Retired educator Kim Williams has been named the lone finalist for superintendent at Gold-Burg Independent School District.
The board of trustees selected Williams following an interview reported Superintendent Roger Ellis who will be leaving the district at the end of May to take a job in south Texas.
Trustees reviewed 15 applicants and Williams was the only person who was interviewed. Ellis called Williams a “good choice,” explaining per state policy there is a 21-day waiting period after a lone finalist is named. If approved after that time, Williams would start July 2.
Williams retired as Gold-Burg principal in May 2019 after two years leading the campus and culminating a 31-year career in education. A 1983 graduate of Bowie High School and during college earned an elementary education degree.
