Paul Bailey Swint

BOWIE – Paul Bailey Swint, 88, Bowie, TX passed away in his home on Jan. 2, 2021.
A graveside service will take place at 2 p.m. on Jan. 6 at Elmwood Cemetery in Bowie. Open visitation was between the hours of 9 a.m. – 8 p.m. on Jan. 5 at White Family Funeral Home in Bowie.
Paul was born Oct. 1, 1932 in Paris to John Matthew Swint and Dolly May Bailey Swint. He grew up in Paris during the great depression and graduated from Paris High School in 1949 at the age of 16. Paul was the youngest of three children, excelled at academics, worked hard to help his family any way he could and was proud to have played High School football with NFL great Raymond Berry. After high school, Paul attended Paris Junior College and soon thereafter began his lifelong career as a car dealer. He owned several successful dealerships in Fort Worth and Bowie and retired in 1994 to work on his farm outside of Bowie.
Paul met his wife, Donna Sue Hancock, at the Shriner’s Circus in Fort Worth. Shortly after they were married on July 11, 1964 and have been by each other’s side for 56 years. Together they moved to Bowie in 1967, where they raised their four children and served as pillars of the community.
Paul was an avid sports enthusiast whose greatest joy was cheering on his loved ones as they played sports from little league to college. Over the years, he and Sue traveled countless miles across Texas to attend games and boasted a near-perfect attendance in each football, basketball, and baseball season. Paul was also very active in the community, devoting time to the Bowie Baseball Association where he helped build the baseball complex. He also entertained the residents of Bowie for many years with his performance in the Bowie Band Show as well as his humorous newspaper ads he ran for his dealership. He loved working on the farm and checking cows, something he continued daily until just a few months ago.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, daughter, Paula Jeanette Swint, son, Stephen Matthew Swint, brother, John Eugene Swint and sister, Fannie Fay Shifflett.
Paul is survived by his wife, Sue Swint, Bowie; daughter, Kris Whiddon and husband, Garry, Bowie; son, Josh Swint and wife, Robin, Bowie; daughter-in-law, Teresa Swint, San Angelo; grandsons, Brandon Baird and wife, Deidre, McKinney, Taylor Baird and wife, Meredith, Dallas, Shane Swint and wife, Lana, San Angelo, Ryan Swint and wife, Amber, Henderson, NV, and Bayler Swint, Bowie; granddaughters Chace Henke, Houston and Baxter Swint, Bowie; great-grandchildren, Dylan and Lindsay Baird, McKinney, Jack, Mary Liz and Kennedy Baird, Dallas, Kaylan, Tristen, Adalyn and Aniston Swint, San Angelo and Ava, Ethan and Bella Claire, Henderson, NE.

Gaynell Reynolds Truelock

BOWIE – Gaynell Reynolds Truelock, 82, was called home, April 16, 2024 after a long battle with dementia.
Gaynell was born Dec. 4, 1941 in New Orleans, LA to Thurston Odell and Ruth Loraine Reynolds and was raised in Houston. She graduated from Sam Houston High School in 1960.
Gaynell met her husband, Jimmy A. Truelock, her high school sweetheart, and married on Friday, May 13, 1960. October 1970, she and her husband moved their young family to the small town of Anderson, TX. She loved the rural community. Gaynell was loved by all that met her. Her greatest joys were her lord and family.
She went to work at the Anderson Shiro School District in 1973 and retired in 1987. She loved her job at the school and the friends she made. Gaynell loved her venture into the raising of ostriches for many years. She was a natural with the giant birds.
Their last move was in 1995 when she and her husband made the move to Bowie. She opened her last business, Bowie Laundry, right away and ran it for many years. In 2002 when her husband retired, they finally fulfilled a lifelong dream, bought a motorhome and hit the road. State parks were her favorite.
Gaynell is survived by her husband of 63 years; daughter and family, Gaylynn and Mark Burris, grandson, Ethan and Jessica Burris and great grandchildren Myka Mae and Elliot, all of Bowie; daughter and family, Cindy Kay Brandt, New Waverly, TX, granddaughter, Rachel and Bradley Klawinsky and great grandsons, Stanton and Colson, Montgomery, TX and grandaughter, Holly and Tim Harris and great granddaughters, Rylynn and Madilyn, College Station, TX; daughter, Sandra Bushnell and a dearly loved sister-in-law, Debbie Truelock Meier, Bowie.

Terry Darnell Murphey

NOCONA – Terry Darnell Murphey, 71, died April 15, 2024 in Nocona.
A visitation was from 6 – 8 p.m. on April 17 at Jerry Woods Funeral Home. A graveside service was at 11 a.m. on April 18 at Nocona Cemetery.
She was born Dec. 21, 1952, in Post, TX to Garnie Randolph and Edith Christine Cowley. She spent most of her career working with and caring for children at Nocona Independent School District in the cafeteria and as a childcare provider at Nocona DayCare Center.
She is preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Bobbie and Carroll Cowley and her husband of 49 years, Jerry Murphey.
She is survived by her sons, Randy Murphey, Nocona and Bill Murphey, Nocona; daughter, Robin Slowey, Lakeside City, TX; six grandchildren; sister, Linda Shaw, Nocona; one sister-in-law and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lucky Paws Animal Shelter in Nocona.

Craig R. Kimmell

SAINT JO – Craig R. Kimmell, 70, died on April 17, 2024.
A visitation will be from 6 – 8 p.m. on April 21 at Scott Funeral Home in Saint Jo. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on April 22 at Red River Station in Saint Jo. Burial will follow at Mountain Park Cemetery in Saint Jo.
He was born on Dec. 31, 1953 in Marshall, TX to Sam and Fern Kimmell. After graduating from Lake Highlands High School in 1972, he attended Texas Tech University to study construction management. He continued his studies at Richland Community College while working as an apprentice plumber. He went on to have a long and distinguished career in the commercial plumbing industry, from which he retired in January of 2020.
He married Cyndi Kimmell in 1978. Together they had two children. In 2012 he married Kimberly Kimmell. In January of 2020 the couple moved to Saint Jo.
He is preceded in death by his parents Fern Kimmell and Sam Kimmell and his stepson, Adam Croxton.
He is survived by his wife, Kimberly Kimmell, Saint Jo; sons Chad Kimmell, Dallas and Clint Kimmell, Plano; brother, Bradley Kimmell, Kingsland, TX and two grandchildren.
