Ruth “Pat” Baker

SAINT JO – Ruth “Pat” Baker, 98, died on Oct. 8, 2021.
A funeral service took place on Oct. 11 in the chapel at Scott Funeral Home in Saint Jo. A graveside followed at Dye Mound Cemetery. The officiating minister was Steve Chism.
Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers were Coy Baker, Vance Briley, Joel Judd, Eric Martin, Paul Marlow, Kaleb Judd, Kaston Marlow, Karter Marlow, Karson Judd, Elijah Baker and Ethan Baker.
Baker was born on Nov. 18, 1922, in Dye Mound. She married Eli Baker on Feb. 8, 1942 and lived in Dye Mound until she went with Eli as he went to college on the G.I. Bill after WWII.
After their professional lives, in 1989 they ultimately returned and retired to Saint Jo. She was an active member at the local Church of Christ. Baker worked for many years as a secretary, the last years as a Texas State Employee in Vernon before retirement.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Clyde Bess and Mollie Wade Bess; husband, Eli A. Baker; daughter, Charlotte Baker and brothers, Happy Bess and Bill Bess.
She is survived by her son, George C. Baker; daughter, Patricia Richardson; six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
