Fleeing driver arrested by SO

A Saturday night traffic stop by a Montague County Sheriff’s deputy resulted in a brief pursuit and a confrontation as the suspect resisted arrest.
Sheriff Marshall Thomas said the incident occurred at 9:12 p.m. on Nov. 20 along U.S. Highway 81 and Indian Hills Road. Deputy Ryan Blackburn was attempting to make a traffic stop for a driver who reportedly passed him at a high rate of speed driving northbound on U.S. 81.
The driver, Shannon Johnston, 40, Nocona according to the deputy tried to stop pulling his Mitsubishi Eclipse on the shoulder, but then sped off going north. Blackburn followed Johnston as he drove to 4190 U.S. 81 pulling into the drive-way of the residence, that turned out to be where he was staying.
