Despite an hour in executive session to discuss the duties of the Veteran’s Service administrator as it relates to receiving and dispersing monies, the Montague County Commissioner’s Court took no action on this topic; however, they did approve adding the program to the juror donation list as provided by recent state legislation.
The topic of adding the donation to the jury pay list was raised last month as a directive from the state that would allow the money to go to a veteran’s treatment program and/or veteran’s county service office. While the law states where it can go it does not provide any guidance on how money is distributed or accounted for in the budget. Jurors can donate their daily pay to several charities listed through the district clerk’s office.
