Carolyn Guilliams

MONTAGUE – Carolyn Guilliams, 84, of Montague, died on Nov. 14, 2022 in Wichita Falls.
There was a visitation from 6-7 p.m. on Nov. 17 at Jerry Woods Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service took place at 10 a.m. on Nov. 18, at Montague County Cowboy Church officiated by Rex Hamilton. Interment followed in Montague Cemetery.
Pallbearers were David Lee Guilliams, B.J. Guilliams, Scott Guilliams, Nathen Laughlin, Hunter Willard and Rene Davis. Honorary pallbearers were Wes McNorton, Josh Gilmore and Slim Laughlin.
Guilliams was born on Jan. 29, 1938 in Montague to Robert and Juanita Cox Ryan. she graduated from Nocona High School and attended Midwestern University. She was a member of the Montague Methodist Church but attended many churches in Montague County. She was a partner in Security Title Company in Montague, later purchasing Montague County Abstract Company.
She is survived by her children, David Guilliams and Terry Guilliams both of Nocona, Shelley Guilliams and Lucia Willard, both of Montague and Jimmi Barclay, Alvord; 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren and her special friend Paul Wells.
Memorial donations may be made to the Montague Cemetery Association.

Douglas “Corky” Elmo Canon Jr.

BOWIE – Douglas “Corky” Elmo Canon Jr., 67, went home to be with the Lord on Jan. 25, 2023.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Jan. 29 at White Family Funeral Home in Bowie. A graveside service will take place at 10 a.m. on Jan. 30 at Elmwood Cemetery in Bowie, with Wayne Knox officiating.
Corky was born July 21, 1955 in San Gabriel, CA to Douglas E. and Nita (Admire) Canon. On Sept. 29, 1979, Corky married Sharon Mann in Nocona and together they raised two girls. He had a longtime career with Enerfin Resources in Wichita Falls.
Corky was passionate about fishing and music. He loved watching his kids and grandkids play ball, and even started yo-yoing as a good-luck tradition with the other dads during his daughter’s softball games. He enjoyed time with his family, hosting foosball tournaments and family reunions. He enjoyed playing ball and sharing treats with his dog Roxy. Corky was always curious and never met a stranger. He was a loving husband, devoted father, pappy, brother and friend, and will be truly missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Corky is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sharon Canon, Bowie; daughters, Traci Russell and husband Chris, Montague and Terri Mayhue, Denton; grandchildren, Kaidyn Mayhue, Kalyn Mayhue, Kinley Russell and Gracelyn Russell; sisters, Sherri King, Gainesville and Deana McDonald, Bowie; brother, Tommy Canon, Houston and brother-in-law, Randy Mann, Oklahoma City.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in honor of Corky to the charity of your choice.

Sheron Jane Fain

SUNSET – Sheron Jane (French) Fain, 77, died on Jan. 20, 2023 in Decatur.
The family received friends from 6 – 8 p.m. on Jan. 24 at the White Family Funeral Home in Bowie. A funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. on Jan. 25 at the White Family Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Smyrna Cemetery in Sunset.
She was born June 2, 1945 in Knox City, TX. She married Robert Wayne “Cowboy” Fain on July 22, 1962 in Sunset. They made their home and raised their daughters after living in Chico for a few years. She had several jobs throughout her life, but was mainly a housewife and mother in her younger years.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Cowboy Fain; sisters, Roberta and Eunice and her twin brother, Theron.
She is survived by her daughters, Kathy Ezzell and Christie Newberry; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Oliver Oscar Neff

KEENE, TX – Oliver Oscar Neff, 83, died on Jan. 19, 2023.
The family received friends from 6 – 8 p.m. on Jan. 22 at the White Family Funeral Home in Bowie. A funeral service was at 2 p.m. on Jan. 23 at the White Family Funeral Home with Pastor Billy Waller as the officiant. Burial followed at Elmwood Cemetery in Bowie.
He was born on May 18, 1939 in Junction, TX to James Franklin and Sara (Martin) Neff. At age 17 he met Patricia Booher. The couple married on Aug. 17, 1957 and spent 48 years together until her passing.
He began working in the oilfield when he was 16, and made it his longtime career until the industry collapsed in the ‘80s. He then drove a rock truck until his retirement. In 2013 he married Claudia McCanless.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two wives, Patricia Neff and Della Neff; one sister and three brothers.
He is survived by his wife, Claudia Neff; children, Glen Neff, Bowie, Marsha Pennington, Bowie, Kimberly Sledge, Montague and Oliver Odell Neff, Comanche, OK; three step-children; 12 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
