Beatrice DeMoss Dill Pitchford

June 24, 1927 – February 7, 2023
BOWIE – Beatrice DeMoss Dill Pitchford, 95, died on Feb. 7, 2023 in Bowie.
A memorial service will take place at 1 p.m. on Feb. 25, at the White Family Funeral Home in Bowie.
She was born on the family ranch outside of Nocona to Clyde and Nora Mae DeMoss. She was the oldest of 11 children who grew up around Ringgold. At 19 she met Jack Dill and on their second date he proposed and she accepted. They ran away the next night and got married.
After Jack’s death she married Ed Pitchford. After his death she continued to reside in Fort Worth and Weatherford before moving to Independence Hall in Bowie where she spent the last five and a half years of her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Nora Mae; husbands, Jack Dill and Ed Pitchford; son, Jack Dill and two brothers, Melton and Wade.
She is survived by son, Jim Dill; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; siblings, Clifford DeMoss, Gene DeMoss, Joyce Swaggert, Faye Pittman, Melvin DeMoss, Nelda Hamilton, Richard DeMoss and Ray DeMoss, countless nieces and nephews and friends at Independence Hall.

James Charles Coates

September 21, 1972 – May 17, 2023
BOWIE – James Charles Coates, 50, died on May 17, 2023 in Wise County.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. on May 27 at Bowie First Methodist Church, located at 1515 Jefferson St., with the Rev. Steve Martinez officiating.
Coates was born Sept. 21, 1972 in Taft, TX to Jim and Glenda Charlene Coates. He married James R. Lotz on Oct. 25, 2003. He worked in customer service and as a tax preparer. He also was a member of Bowie First Methodist Church.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Glenda Charlene Coates and brother, Jay Coates.
He is survived by his spouse, James Lotz, Bowie; father, Jim Coates; brothers, Jon Coates, Fort Worth, Jeffery Coates, Michigan and Josh Coates, Washington, IA and sister, Diane Cambre, Waxahachie.
Memorial donations may be made to Bowie First Methodist Church or to James Lotz at 1210 E. Tarrant St. Bowie, TX 76230 to defray the cost of arrangements.

Alice Mae Steely

April 19, 1951 – May 15, 2023
BEDFORD – Alice Mae Steely, 72, died on May 15, 2023 in Bedford, TX.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. on May 20 at Mountain Park Cemetery in Saint Jo.
She was born on April 19, 1951 in Dallas to the late Thomas Pritchett Weaver and Bessie Alice Miller. She always put others first and loved with every piece of her heart. She was a member of First United Methodist Grapevine. Steely was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Anna Weaver Meier.
She is survived by her husband, Henry Thomas Steely Jr.; son, Henry Thomas Steely III and wife; one granddaughter; one grandson and her sister, Jo Rene Noah.

Billy “Bill” Junior Reaves

October 19, 1934 – May 12, 2023
BOWIE – Billy “Bill” Junior Reaves, 88, went home to be with the Lord on May 12, 2023 in Decatur.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on May 15 at the White Family Funeral Home in Bowie. A graveside service was at 10 a.m. on May 16 at Brushy Cemetery with Chris Osborne and Ken Goodson as the officiants.
Bill was born Oct. 19, 1934 in Post Oak, TX to Gilbert Franklin and Ida Marie (Middlebrooks) Reaves. He graduated from Bellevue High School in 1953. On Oct. 26, 1968 Bill married Louise Edgin in Bowie. Bill enjoyed carpentry and ranching. He worked for Ranch House Western Wear in Bowie for many years, as well as a firefighter and Emergency Medical Technician for the City of Bowie. He was a devoted husband and father and will be remembered with love and appreciation.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Gib and Ida Reaves; infant daughter, Leaha Reaves; brother, Sydney Reaves; sisters, Ruby Gilmore and Annlee Garrett and granddaughter, Stacy Blake.
Bill is survived by his wife, Louise Reaves, Bowie; children, Elizabeth Hale, Garland, Rebecca Brooks and husband Kevin, Bowie and Jaret Reaves and wife Lisa, Gainesville; grandchildren, Shane Hale and wife Julia, Cassiopeia Beasley and husband Vester, Kolton Brooks and wife Sadi, Krista Brooks, Kevin Clay Brooks and wife Mercedes, Kenlea Reaves and Macey Reaves; 10 great-grandchildren; brothers, Herbert Reaves, Bowie and George A. Reaves, San Angelo; sister, Emma Mae Large, Bowie and numerous nieces and nephews.
