Calling All Artists
Bowie, TX-Are you an artist? Or is your child an artist? Then you must sign up for the 3nd ‘Small Town America’ Art Show, to be held November 1, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church, hosted by the Bowie Alliance for Education. If you or someone you know has an entry they would like to submit, please bring them to the First United Methodist Church, located at 1515 Jefferson Street on October 31st from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm or on November 1st from 8:00 am until 11:00 am. Art within the following categories will be accepted: Oil/Acrylic, Photography, 3D-Cermics/Sculptures and Works on Paper. Cash prizes will be awarded according to age groups along with a Best of Show Award. Age groups are divided accordingly: up to 9, 10-14, 15-18, and 19 and up (adult). The registration fee is $25 per three pieces of eligible work for artists 15 years of age and up. For ages 14 and under, the registration fee will be $10 per three pieces of eligible work. Registration forms can be picked up at the Bowie Public Library or requested through email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
This year’s Best of Show is presented in memory of Marine Cpl Adam Joseph Buyes; 0621 Radio Operator; Attached to 3rd Reconnaissance Battalion Charlie Company 1st Platoon Team 1; KIA – Upper Sangin Valley, Afghanistan. Cpl Adam Joseph Buyes was from Oregon and he loved the Oregon Ducks and loved being a Marine. If there was ever confrontation, he would be the one dude stopping it. He loved people and always had a great attitude.
The Art Show itself will be held on November 1st from 1:00 pm until 5:00 pm at the First United Methodist Church with winners being announced at an awards reception at 3:00 pm.
