LOCAL VOLLEYBALL: Nocona romps twice

The Nocona High School volleyball team won a pair of matches on the road Tuesday at Krum.
The Indians defeated Fort Worth Brewer in straight sets 25-19, 25-20, 25-22, but needed four to stop host Krum by scores of 25-17, 25-17, 19-25, 25-21.
The Indians stand at 4-4 on the season.
Against Fort Worth Brewer, Chloey Hamilton and Jamie Carpenter ran the Indians offense and combined for 24 assists. Carpenter also had three ace serves.
Sherese Price pounded down a team-best nine kills.
Makenzie Breeze led the block party with five solo ace blocks, while Mackie Trumbull had four. Madilynn Cable played for the first time this season, and had three solo ace blocks.
Magye Fenoglio paced the Indian defense with seven digs.
In the win over Krum, Hamilton was a perfect 17-of-17 on serves with two aces. Carpenter also had an outstanding match with 14 digs, 14 assists, seven kills, three ace blocks and three ace serves. Read the rest of this notebook in the weekend edition of The Bowie News.
