After successful outings in the Walker Stallcup Tournament, Bowie High School’s baseball and softball continued their schedule on the road Tuesday against District 3A-9 for Jacksboro.
In softball, the Lady Rabbit bats were too much for Jacksboro as Bowie powered to a 15-0 win in five innings.
“The offense put pressure on the Jacksboro defense, which allowed us all those runs,” said coach Brant Farris. “We used our speed well.”
Courtney Brady opened scoring in the first with a two run single, bringing in two of Bowie’s eight runs in the first three innings.
The most was a six-run effort in the second including a two run single by Ashlyn Vanwey, an RBI double by Petie Wolsey and an RBI single by Kelbie Throckmorton.
Throckmorton was excellent on the mound, recording a complete-game shutout. She allowed one hit, walked and struck out four.
“Kelbie has done a great job over the offseason, and it paid off Tuesday,” Farris said. “She was placing her pitches very well.”

Bowie’s baseball team opened district play by blanking Jacksboro, too.
“The offense was patient,” said baseball coach Ryan Rogers. “We grinded out at-bats and were able to scratch out some runs.” Read more in the weekend Bowie News.
