The Bellevue High School boys’ basketball team was home for the final time this season, playing host to Slidell, a team they had previously defeated 66-60 Jan 23.
This game was not as close as the Eagles soared to an 80-60 win, and clinched the District 1A-21 title in the process.
“We started the game very well,” said head coach Colby Broussard. “We knew what we had to do.”
Bellevue, which moved up one spot to 17th in the latest Texas Association of Basketball Coaches Conference 1A boys’ poll, dominated the first and third quarters.
The Eagles outscored the Greyhounds 23-6 in the opening frame, and had a 24-14 edge in points during the third quarter.
Broussard added the offense took advantage of their ability to penetrate the lane.
Emilio Mendoza paced the Eagles with 24 points; he was one of four double-digit scorers for Bellevue in the game.
