Get your garage sale ready for community-wide event
Get your spring cleaning started with the annual Bowie City-Wide Garage sale on March 27-28.
Everyone is invited to set up a sale at their home or make plans to visit all the great sales across the community.
The Bowie News is providing free basic garage sale notices in the newspapers (one run), but for $15 you can purchase a garage sale kit that includes two garage sale signs, pricing stickers and two classified ads up to 15 words.
Any garage sale kit purchased by March 19 will be added to the list of city-wide garage sales scheduled to run on March 21 and March 25.
The list will run next to a map of Bowie, but specific addresses will not be plotted. The map will be published in the March 25 edition.
Stop by the News at 200 Walnut Street to purchase your garage sale kit and shop your wares.
There will be a Summer Kick-Off Health Fair for senior citizens from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on June 11 at the Bowie Senior Citizens Center.
Join the group for a free chicken spaghetti lunch, door prizes and games. The Lions Club will host free eye exams and there will free blood pressure checks.

As summer opens, the third annual Music in the Park is planned for June 13 in Pelham Park.
This free musical evening will feature a unique array of musical talent to entertain as guests pull up their lawnchairs under the large oak trees. Hosted by the Bowie Community Center and R&K Sound Company, music begins at 4:30 p.m.
The Lowdown Drifters will be headliner with the opening acts of Jesse Wadsworth, Thad Murphy and the Monty Dawson Band of Bowie.
