LOCAL SPORTS: Nighthawks fall in IFL debut game

The Wichita Falls Nighthawks suffered a 37-13 setback in their Intense Football League debut against the Colorado Ice.
Colorado rolled to a 23-0 lead before Wichita Falls finally got on the scoreboard.
Edward Wesley scored Wichita Falls (0-1 record) first touchdown on a 9-yard run with 57 seconds remaining in the second quarter.
However, the Ice held the Nighthawks to 180 yards overall. Wichita Falls converted only once on third down (1-of-7) and went 0-3 on fourth-down conversion tries.
Mark Watley II was Wichita Falls’ defensive leader with 10 tackles.
The Nighthawks first home game is set for 7 p.m. on March 14 versus the Nebraska Danger at the Kay Yeager Coliseum. For information, call the ticket office at 1-940-761-5575.

Bowie’s Cason Richey (right) and his horse Hello Lashes, qualified for the College National Finals Rodeo this month. Richey competes in team roping as a part of the Texas Tech University rodeo team as a freshman. The CNFR is scheduled for June 15-21 at Casper, WY.
