LOCAL SPORTS: Nighthawks fall to Danger

The Nebraska Danger scored 30 second-half points en route to a 36-26 victory over the Wichita Falls Nighthawks in the team’s Indoor Football League home opener at Kay Yeager Coliseum.
The Nighthawks were up 20-14 heading into the fourth quarter, but couldn’t hold on as they committed four turnovers during the game’s final 28 minutes.
Wichita Falls dropped to 0-3. The Nighthawks won’t play again until a March 28 date against the Tri-Cities Fever.
The Nighthawks actually had leads of 13-0 and 20-6 in the game as Marcus Jackson scored on a TD run and he threw a pair of scoring strikes to DeMarkus Washington.
A Jerome McGee Jr. 5-yard reception with 22 seconds left in the fourth quarter only prettied up the scoreboard.
Nebraska outgained Wichita Falls 288-154, and the Nighthawks committed five turnovers (three Jackson interceptions and a pair of fumbles lost). The Danger also had a 34:15-25:45 edge in time of possession and converted on 4-of-8 fourth downs. Read more in the mid-week Bowie News.
