Bowie High School catcher Courtney Brady and shortstop Taylor McCarty were handed major honors in District 3A-9.
McCarty, a freshman, hit the ball at a .414 clip with four doubles, three triples and one home run. Taylor reached base more than half of the time. She recorded 60 assists and 54 putouts defensively.
Brady was moved to catcher late in the season and hit .279, with two triples during the bi-district playoff round. Courtney finished with a team-best 27 RBIs, and scored 20 times. Defensively, she had 45 putouts and had only eight errors.
Two Bowie players were first-team selections in second baseman Henslee Ogle and Angelo State-bound Petie Wolsey.
Ogle hit .283, but drew 12 walks for a .424 on-base percentage, and she scored 14 times. Henslee recorded 37 putouts and 30 assists and committed just seven errors.
Wolsey was Bowie’s undisputed leader batting in the No. 1 hole, with a team-best 39 runs scored and a scorching batting average of .552. Petie put together a .949 fielding percentage with 34 putouts.
Bowie also had five second-team choices with pitcher Kellbie Throckmorton, catcher Jayde Brezina, Callie Melton at first base, and outfielders Addy Cook and Tristin Hopson. Nocona’s Katelynn Walker was a second-team selection at second base and Karlie Pepper was the same over at third base.
