Nocona, Saint Jo continue work on their budgets

Both the Cities of Saint Jo and Nocona are continuing to hammer out their fiscal year 2016 budget.
Saint Jo had a special called meeting on Aug. 21 to discuss setting the proposed property tax rate for 2015.
Aldermen quickly voted ‘yes’ to adopt a property tax rate of .6856 per $100 of assessed property. The meeting lasted two minutes, and the rate will remain the same.
The City of Nocona will have a called meeting on the tax rate at 8 a.m. on Aug. 27 at council chambers located at 100 Cooke Street.
A proposed rate of .55 cents per $100 in property value is being offered, which is a 7.1 percent increase above the present rate of .5376 cents. Read the full story in the mid-week News.
