HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL: Lady Rabbits in front

The top of the lineup for the Bowie High School softball team came through – lifting the Lady Rabbits to a District 3A-9 victory over Jacksboro.
“Taylor (McCarty) and Addy (Cook) were both 3-for-4 with a triple and a home run each,” Bowie head coach Brant Farris said. “The top of the line-up set the tone. Hitting is contagious, and the rest of the lineup jumped in too.”
Bowie improved to 12-6-2 heading into next Tuesday’s game versus Paradise at home. But, more importantly, the Lady Rabbits are the only team in 3A-9 without a loss.
“The message I sent was the district was wide open,” Farris added, “and to go get it. The girls have showed up ready to play every game.”
Farris applauded the effort of the Lady Rabbits.
Jacksboro opened up the first inning with four runs, but Bowie responded in kind for four runs in the bottom of the frame to deadlock the score.
Pitcher Kellbie Throckmorton settled down after that rough patch, and didn’t allow the Tigerettes another run until the fifth inning – when victory was pretty much no longer in doubt. Read more, and see the complete box score, in the March 19 Bowie News.
