HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL: Review and preview

Carter Shackelford has signed to play both baseball and football at Hardin-Simmons in Abilene. Chandler Dean is heading to Mount Pleasant and Northeast Texas Community College. Head coach Ryan Rogers said Trace Hardee may play collegiate baseball at either Weatherford or Rose State (Okla.).
The senior class also includes Kamry Weber, Lawson Mickler, Barrett Brooks, Kevin Stallcup, Conner Koks, Kollin Gillaspia and manager Deagon Kurz.
“They came together and made a commitment (to the program),” Rogers said. “I am proud of our group of seniors. They helped put Bowie on the map, and it’s a credit to their hard work.”
During the past three years, which has coincided with Rogers’ tenure as head coach, Bowie has won 67 games and finished as district and bi-district champion in successive seasons.
The baseball team will have its own season-ending banquet at some point next week when awards will be distributed. Read the weekend News for the official time and date.
