County hires Toby Howard as FEMA manager

Published

Montague County Commissioners hired Toby Howard, Nocona, to be its new Federal Emergency Management Administration project manager.

The court met for a 20-minute executive session on Tuesday to consider the position.

Toby Howard also is a retired school superintendent, and Lewis said they believe his experience will be helpful as project manager.

W.R. Tucker was hired several months ago, but resigned late last week to return to the education system as Perrin-Whitt superintendent.

County Judge Rick Lewis said the FEMA projects are very paperwork intensive with documentation on every aspect especially larger projects. A project manager has been helping navigate the red tape which will bring $13,131,254.16 in repair funds to the county.

All the repairs stem from the May 2015 flooding that swept across Montague County damaging county roads and bridges.
