A 20-year-old man who attempted to use an explosive in front of a Nocona residence on July 13 was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Nocona Police Chief Kent Holcomb said Brandt Pennington, who appeared to be intoxicated, was driving by a house on Seventh Street when he began yelling at three subjects standing outside, and then he threw a block of Tannerite in the yard.
Pennington stopped the vehicle and was reportedly holding a shotgun out the window attempting to blow up the Tannerite, said the chief, when one of the three subjects tried to grab the shotgun from Pennington. He then fired the weapon, missing the subjects and the block of Tannerite.
