BASKETBALL: Scrimmages continue for local squads

The Bowie High School boys’ basketball team was originally expected to have a scrimmage at Keene on Thursday.
However, that scrimmage has been cancelled, so said Bowie athletic director Dylan Stark in an announcement on Monday.
The scrimmage was cancelled due to the Bowie-Merkel Conference 3A Region I bi-district football game set for Seymour.
In addition, Bowie High School’s junior varsity girls’ basketball team will play morning games only on Thursday at the Muenster Tournament.
The girls will continue tournament action on Thursday and Friday.
The boys’ basketball team is still expected to have a scrimmage at Wichita Falls Rider on Saturday at 10 a.m.
Prairie Valley had a split schedule on Tuesday, with the girls playing at Chillicothe while the boys were at Christ Academy.
The girls’ game will count in the regular-season standings. Meanwhile, the boys are playing just a scrimmage.
The same scenario is set for Friday. The girls will play at Wichita Christian while the boys are set for a home game against Mineral Wells Community Christian.
That will mark the first regular-season game for Prairie Valley’s boys.
Also on Saturday, the Saint Jo girls open up the regular season with Chillicothe at 3 p.m. inside “The Dome.”
