Bowie School Trustees to meet on Monday

Published

on

Bowie School Trustees will meet at 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 7 for a called session that includes numerous budgetary items and items to start the new school year.
A budget workshop opens the agenda as Chief Financial Officer Jonathan Pastusek presents the budget that will not include the certified property values and related projected revenue. The board will consider a tax rate and scheduling the various public hearings for the budget items.
During discussion, Superintendent Steven Monkres will present information facility and website updates, the state school board convention, legislative activities and the district’s strategic plan.
Campus principals will bring personnel updates and changes in the student handbook. The handbook and student code of conduct also will be presented for action.
In action items, the district will consider relinquishing its interest in the old Bellmire Nursing Home property on Rock Street to the city. It was foreclosed and there were no buyers in the tax sale, so it has reverted to the taxing entities. Montague County has already relinquished its interest.
Trustees also will formally call the Nov. 7 election where three board positions will be on the ballot.

UIL record archives only date back to 1983 and they didn’t see anyone listed as winning a gold medal in Academic UIL. According to Nocona records, she is the first UIL Academic Champion since 1973. Midwestern State University junior Rykir Evans is not only building his skills during a NASA internship—he’s creating memories that will last a lifetime.
Evans has been a remote student at MSU Texas this semester while completing the internship. During that time, he had the opportunity to meet American naval aviator and NASA astronaut Reid Wiseman, as well as NASA Chief Flight Director Gene Kranz.
“It definitely has been an amazing experience thus far, and meeting all of the super inspirational figures in flesh and blood was definitely surreal,” Evans said.
