Chisholm Trail Rodeo Queen sought

Plans are already in the works for this year’s Chisholm Trail Rodeo Queen and Princess Contest.
The contest is searching for girls age 18 and under to participate June 9-11 in Nocona. The competition is based on 25% ticket sales, 25% appearance, 25% horsemanship and 25% personality.
A scholarship is awarded to the queen winner, a saddle certificate to the princess winner, along with many other prizes.
An informational meeting for those interested in participating will be scheduled for May at the Chisholm Trail Rodeo Arena in Nocona where tickets will be handed out and the rules explained. Those interested also may call Sherry Brown, 940-841-2044 or Tracy Oswald, 972-979-8962

Bowie, Nocona libraries wrap up summer reading this week

Local libraries wrap up their children’s summer reading programs this week.
The Bowie Public Library brings the popular Creature Teacher with all their spectacular animals for the final event on July 23 at the Bowie Community Center.
The program begins at 10 am. The children also will receive their prize books for their summer logs.
The Nocona Public Library ends its program at 10 a.m. on July 24 at the H.J. Justin Building at 100 Clay Street. The program will be “Our Own Action Heroes -” Nocona fire, police and EMTs.
