Nocona hosted a track meet on March 10 that featured four area schools.
Both Bowie track teams finished first overall ahead of Muenster in second place.
For Nocona, the boy’s team finished third and the girl’s team got fourth place. Saint Jo saw its girl’s team finish third and its boy’s team get fourth place. The Bellevue girls team got fifth place.
The Jackrabbit team won nine events. Isaac Renteria got first in the 800 meters, 1600 meters and 3200 meter races. Russell Anderson won both the 200 meter and 400 meter races.
Braden Rhyne won the 300 meter hurdles and Tyler Richey won the 110 meter hurdles. Jorge De Leon won the shot put event. Bowie closed out the meet by then winning the 4×400 meter relay race.
The Lady Rabbits had three first place finishes. Individually, Samara McChesney won the pole vault event. In the relays, both the 4×100 and 4×200 teams earned first place as well.
The Nocona boy’s team won only one event, but finished second in six events. McCrae Crossen won the pole vault event.
The Lady Indians finished first in five events. Grace Brown and Ava Johnson both won two races. Brown won the 400 and 800 meter races, Johnson won the 100 and 200 meter races. Nocona finished the meet winning the 4×400 meter relay.
For the Saint Jo girls team, the team won two events and got second in three events. Savannah Hill won the 300 meter hurdles and Bryndle Brewer won the long jump.
The Saint Jo boy’s team had Damon Byrd win both the long jump and triple jump as the Panthers finished second in two other events.
The Bellevue Lady Eagles had Mattie Broussard win the high jump and the 1600 meter race while the team got second in five other events.

Nocona
The Nocona Indians played only one game last week due high winds later in the week, losing at Petrolia.
The Pirates won 9-0 in a game where not much went right for the Indians.
Petrolia scored five runs in the first inning thanks to three singles and three fielding error. The Pirates added one run in the third inning, two in the fifth and one more in the sixth inning.
Nocona had much trouble with its bats all game, finishing with only one hit and drawing five walks. Petrolia’s defense was stingy, only committing one fielding error, so the Indian offense struggled to say the least.
Landon Fathree got the team’s one hit in the game. The team struck out 10 times while drawing five walks.
Brody Langford got the start on the mound and pitched five innings while giving up eight run (three earned) on six hits while striking out six batters. The defense committed six fielding errors.

Saint Jo
The Saint Jo Panthers played Electra on last week and lost a close game against the Tigers.
Electra won 7-6 in a game the Panthers knew they should have been able to win.
Saint Jo fell behind early in the game by five runs and spent the rest of it trying to catch back up. In the end, despite the Panthers ending with 12 hits, the team fell one run short.
Trent Gaston had a team high two RBIs. Sam Martin had three hits to lead the team.

The Nocona Lady Indians hosted Saint Jo on March 11 as both teams get ready to kick off district play this week.
The Lady Indians played the bigger school heel and beat the Lady Panthers 16-1 in three innings due to run-rule.
Nocona was coming into the game on an eight game win-streak and was feeling confident playing the smaller school in the county.
The Lady Panthers showed in the first inning they were hoping to surprise the Lady Indians and compete with them.
After being hit by a pitch earlier in the top of the first inning, Saint Jo hitters drew three straight walks, with the last two being full counts.
Jordyn O’Neal came in to score as the Lady Panthers led 1-0.
That would be the highlight for Saint Jo in the game.
Nocona answered with its bats, scoring five runs to take the lead 5-1 after getting a double, three singles and drawing four walks while taking advantage of two fielding errors from the Lady Panthers.
After the Lady Indians did not allow a base runner in the top of the second inning, Nocona was back to do more damage with its bats.
The Lady Indians scored four runs on two singles, three walks and one fielding error as Nocona’s lead extended to 9-1.
Saint Jo tried to get something going in the third inning with Reagan Wilson getting on base with a single with two outs, but it did not go anywhere.
Nocona then angled to end the game early as the team scored seven runs in the inning thanks to three singles, one double, two free bases and two fielding errors.
The Lady Indians won 16-1 after two and half innings due to run-rule.
Nocona was led by Skye Kirby and Kylea Wallace who both had three RBIs.
Evelyn Marquez, Tinley Cable and Ma’leaigha Franklin added two RBIs each while Heidi Atteberry had a team high three hits. As a team, the Lady Indians had 11 hits and drew eight walks.
On the mound, Reagan Phipps allowed one run on hit while striking out four batters and walking three. The team committed one fielding error.
