Saint Jo Panthers prepare for homecoming
Saint Jo High School is celebrating homecoming. The week will be filled with spirited activities as the Panthers prepare to take on the Northside Indians, at 7:30 pm Friday at Harley Sewell Field. There will be a pep rally at 3 p.m., Friday, also at Harley Sewell Field. The student body of Saint Jo High School selected their representatives for the Homecoming Court: freshman princess, Bethany Thomas; sophomore princess, Zoey Ogden and Andrea Carley, junior princesses Ashley Reyling and Sheridan Stiteler. The senior queen candidates are Katrina Noble, Sarah Patrick, Brandi Richardson and Amaree Sapp. The Homecoming Court presentation and crowning of the queen will be at halftime. The Back to School Fair for Bowie Independent School District students will be 9 a.m. on July 20 in the high school cafeteria and gym.
The fair will feature free school supplies, haircuts and eye screening and vendors.
The 22nd annual July Jam returns on July 27 to the Bowie Community Center West Hall, 413 Pelham Street in Bowie.
There will be a “chickin’ pickin’ fiddling fun time” as guests will be entertained by amazing fiddling tunes and enjoying a chicken meal with delicious homemade jams because it wouldn’t be July Jam without it.
Tickets are just $15 with the event starting at 6 p.m. The funds raised help provide awards for the Championship Fiddler Competition during Chicken and Bread Days Heritage Festival on Oct. 5.
This attracts talented musicians from all over to visit downtown Bowie to test their fiddling skills on stage in the Bowie Fire Hall on Oct. 5.
Along with the live fiddling entertainment, come hungry and be ready to outbid your neighbors at the silent auction or just stop by for a great meal, fellowship and soak in the air conditioning.
