Shebang draws big crowd for museum fundraiser

Tales ‘N’ Trails Museum hosted its annual Shebang fundraiser this past Saturday night and one of the highlights is the presentation of the Volunteer of the Year Award. (Left) Nellann McBroom, museum curator, presented the arrowhead-shaped award to Larry and Joan Veale, Montague. They both volunteer in various aspects at the museum, and Larry is well-known around the area for dressing up in costume and making historical presentations at schools and other programs. The Shebang is the museum primary fundraiser for the year featuring dinner, live and silent auctions. About 175 were in attendance to support the event that provides operational funds for the museum. Bowie, Nocona libraries wrap up summer reading this week

Local libraries wrap up their children’s summer reading programs this week.
The Bowie Public Library brings the popular Creature Teacher with all their spectacular animals for the final event on July 23 at the Bowie Community Center.
The program begins at 10 am. The children also will receive their prize books for their summer logs.
The Nocona Public Library ends its program at 10 a.m. on July 24 at the H.J. Justin Building at 100 Clay Street. The program will be “Our Own Action Heroes -” Nocona fire, police and EMTs.
