Bowie High freshman musician earns all-state band

Ayden Sunigam, a freshman clarinet player with the Bowie High School Band made the Association of Texas Small Schools Bands All-State Band.
BHS Director Kendel Hickenbottom said this is an incredible accomplishment as most all-state students are juniors or seniors and it is very hard to make the band, especially as a freshman.
He competed with clarinets for the all-region level where he placed third out of 80 to make the All-Region Honor Band. The All-Region Honor Band Clinic and Concert was at Argyle High School this last weekend. The clinic took placed Thursday-Friday when they were presented in a public concert. Bowie, Nocona libraries wrap up summer reading this week

Local libraries wrap up their children’s summer reading programs this week.
The Bowie Public Library brings the popular Creature Teacher with all their spectacular animals for the final event on July 23 at the Bowie Community Center.
The program begins at 10 am. The children also will receive their prize books for their summer logs.
The Nocona Public Library ends its program at 10 a.m. on July 24 at the H.J. Justin Building at 100 Clay Street. The program will be “Our Own Action Heroes -” Nocona fire, police and EMTs.
