20 nonprofits from county join Texoma Gives

Twenty Montague County non-profits will take part in the annual Texoma Gives fundraising event on Sept. 12, however, early giving begins on Aug. 29.
This multi-county fundraising effort will begin accepting donations this week, but its focus is on Sept. 12 with a 24-hour campaign to support your favorite or several favorite nonprofits. On Sept. 12 giving begins at 6 a.m. and ends at 10 p.m. on Sept. 12.
Visit the texomagives website at: texomagives.org. You will see profiles of the organizations and their activities. The minimum donation is $10.
The goal is to inspire Texoma for 16 hours to contribute as many charitable dollars as possible to support the work of area nonprofit organizations.
Montague County area nonprofits participating this year are: Friends of the Bowie Public Library, ShelterHearts, Bowie Alliance for Education and the Arts, Friends of the Bowie Animal Shelter, James K. Bruner TK Ranch, Nocona Lucky Paws, Nocona Military Heritage Plaza, Nocona Carpenter Shop Senior Citizens Center, Tales ‘N’ Trails Museum, Easy Street Shelter in Saint Jo, Montague County Crime Stoppers, Prairie Valley 4-H, Court Appointed Special Advocates of Red River, Wise Hope Shelter and Crisis Center, Charis Hills, North Central Texas College Foundation, Patsy’s House, Affirming Texas Families and Bellevue Ex-Students Association.

Bowie, Nocona libraries wrap up summer reading this week

Local libraries wrap up their children’s summer reading programs this week.
The Bowie Public Library brings the popular Creature Teacher with all their spectacular animals for the final event on July 23 at the Bowie Community Center.
The program begins at 10 am. The children also will receive their prize books for their summer logs.
The Nocona Public Library ends its program at 10 a.m. on July 24 at the H.J. Justin Building at 100 Clay Street. The program will be “Our Own Action Heroes -” Nocona fire, police and EMTs.
