Bowie Memorial Hospital makes strides despite facing brutal facts

Published

on

By BARBARA GREEN

Bowie Memorial Hospital Chief Executive Officer Michael McEachern says he often is asked how things are going at the hospital, and he usually says well.

However, he has changed his answer to make sure people understand while things are better, they are a long way from where they want, or, need to be.

McEachern has been working at BMH since April 2014 and was named CEO in September. He came in at a difficult time where there were cash flow issues and staffing cuts.

In addition, the hospital had begun a new management relationship with Community Hospital Corporation of Plano, plus a clinical affiliation with United Regional Healthcare.

He looks back on a year that saw many accomplishments, but the hospital is dealing with some “brutal facts and challenges.”

Read the full story on the hospital challenges in the Saturday News.
