Like in the boys’ game, the third quarter told the story in the girls’ contest between Nocona and Henrietta.
Both teams were deadlocked at 21-all at intermission, but the Lady Indians outscored the Lady Bearcats 15-7 in the third quarter to take control of the proceedings.
“We were able to hit some shots right off the bat,” Nocona head girls’ basketball coach Bradley McGann said.
Nocona improved to 11-16, 4-9 in District 3A-9, with one game left to play on Tuesday at Boyd.
“The girls played with a lot of pride,” McGann said. “This win was important because it will hopefully help us build a little momentum and positive energy heading into spring ball.”
This marked the final home game for seniors Victoria Fatheree, Makenzie Breeze and Kolbi Klein.
Fatheree capped off her home playing career with a double-double, scoring 16 points and pulling down 12 rebounds. Makenzie Franklin also scored in double digits with 14 points.
