Saint Jo made a short trip to Prairie Valley, but the Lady Panthers didn’t make short work of the Lady Bulldogs in this District 2A-10 contest.
The Lady Panthers added their second district win with a four-set triumph by scores of 25-19, 22-25, 25-9, 25-10 in a match that was quite competitive early on.
Saint Jo improved their record to 8-13 with a 2-1 district mark. Prairie Valley dropped to 3-19 with a 0-3 district mark.
“I thought the girls played all right,” said Saint Jo coach Kristi Tallon. “Though, I felt they didn’t play to their potential.”
“The girls played very well in the first two sets,” said Prairie Valley coach Jeannie Carpenter. “We just seemed to lose momentum in the third and fourth.”
Both teams were tied during two timeouts in the opening set. Saint Jo performed well in the final two sets, including jumping to a 9-0 lead in the third set.
Tallon mentioned a lack of an air conditioning unit in Prairie Valley’s gym as a factor in preparing for the match. Read more in the mid-week edition of The Bowie News.
