GOLF: Patterson drives home win

The Patterson Auto Group was a repeat champion during the Lions Club Golf Tournament on Saturday at Top O’ The Lake Golf Course in rural Bowie.
The event featured a four-person scramble, and teams could feature any number of men and women as long as it totaled up to four.
The Patterson Auto Group of Bowie team was comprised of Bill Roberts, Gary Hachtel, Lyndon Hachtel and Dylan Hachtel. The foursome recorded a 55 score.
The second-place team also scored 55, but lost out on the tie-breaker.
Jerry and Janet Clements sponsored the team, which consisted of Todd McMurray, Mike Shaw, Kevin Polk and Terry Gunter.
Sanger Bank of Bowie took third, shooting a 57. The team featured Troy Womack, John Butterfield, Truman Duke and Suzie Duke.
The team will the highest score, a 72, was also given a prize. The WL Plastics foursome was comprised of Jerry Rogers, Jason Underhill, Johnny Zotz and Chris Anderson.
Tournament chairman Dr. Gary Cornelison said the Lions Club generated a healthy sum of money from the event. Read more in the mid-week edition of The Bowie News.

Prairie Valley hosted its high school awards banquet on May 9. The O.C. Mann Award went to Josh Stout and Linzie Priddy.

Gold-Burg High School hosted its awards banquet on May 22. The Gold-Burg Iron Bear Awards went to Eli Freeland-White for boy athlete and Hallie Nelson for girl athlete.

Richey headed to National Finals

Bowie’s Cason Richey (right) and his horse Hello Lashes, qualified for the College National Finals Rodeo this month. Richey competes in team roping as a part of the Texas Tech University rodeo team as a freshman. The CNFR is scheduled for June 15-21 at Casper, WY.
