REGIONAL: NCTC honors awarded

Sophomore Megan Durante and freshman Rylee Hodges were both named first-team all-league players in the North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference softball.
Both players were standouts this season for North Central Texas College as infielders.
Hodges also was named to the 2016 National Fastpitch Coaches Association, which consists of head, assistant and associate head coaches throughout the country.
The organization works with national media in producing polls for college softball.
Freshman pitcher Brooke Ford and sophomore pitcher Kaylea Armstrong were second-team all-conference selections – along with freshman catcher Hannah Cooper.
Megan Durante recorded a .400 batting average with 40 RBIs and 12 doubles and 38 runs scored. Hodges rapped six homers and accumulated 35 RBIs while also hitting .400.
NCTC softball finished the season with a 32-32 mark, 16-16 in the NTJCAC – before Weatherford eliminated the Lady Lions from the postseason. Read more in the July 16 Bowie News.
