VOLLEYBALL: Iowa Park gets the best of Nocona

In recent years, the Nocona High School volleyball team has given Conference 4A school Iowa Park fits on opening day.
That didn’t materialize on Tuesday as the Indians fell to Iowa Park in four games by scores of 18-25, 25-14, 27-25, 25-23.
The match was highly competitive, especially in the third and fourth sets.
“The girls came out fired up at the beginning,” Nocona first-year head coach Tiffany Clay said.
Clay said the Indians had trouble with Iowa Park’s block during the final three sets. In the third and fourth sets, Nocona put up a triple block that helped them be more competitive.
“We just made some mental errors at crucial points of the game,” Clay said.
Nocona (0-1) played Red Oak Friday morning in the Denton Ryan Tournament. The Indians will play at the same event on Saturday. The team will then play at Krum on Tuesday with Fort Worth Brewer.
