As sun began to rise Thursday morning, Bowie Fire Department conducted a flag ceremony at the fire hall to remember those who died in the Sept. 11, 2011 attacks. It is the 13th anniversary of the attacks that killed nearly 3,000 in four different incidents involving airplanes. Two were crashed into the World Trade Center Towers, one in the Pentagon and one crashed into a Pennsylvania field when the passengers thwarted the hijackers. A small group of citizens attended, as the flag was raised and lowered to half mast. Firefighters and local law enforcement officers salute the flag. (Photo by Barbara Green)
