Well, there’s one team the Bowie High School volleyball squad has had no problems beating this week – and that’s Ponder.
The Lady Rabbits defeated Ponder in Pool F at the “Buckle Up For Lane’s Sake Tournament” on Thursday by scores of 25-20, 25-18. Earlier this week on Tuesday at Ponder, Bowie triumphed by scores of 25-15, 26-16, 25-17.
Bowie sports a record of 11-11 heading into today’s Silver Bracket Lane Tournament match against the Nocona JV. The match will start at 10 a.m. at Nocona Elementary School, on Court No. 2.
Bowie or the Nocona JV will take on the winner of the match between Paradise and Ponder. The championship and consolation matches in the Silver Bracket are set for 5 p.m.
“We went 2-2 (at the tournament),” Bowie head coach Jeanie Stark said. “We played well at times. But, defensively, we broke down and didn’t handle the ball well.”
Also at the Lane Tournament, Iowa Park defeated Bowie by scores of 25-13, 26-28, 25-19, but the Lady Rabbits came back and topped Anderson-Shiro 25-17, 25-18.
Anderson-Shiro traveled the furthest to the Lane Tournament, driving more than four hours one way to get to Saint Jo. Read more in the weekend edition of The Bowie News.
