AREA FOOTBALL: Bears depleted for Tioga

Published

on

With injuries mounting, changes are in store for the Gold-Burg football team this Friday when the Bears play host to Tioga at Joe Corpening Field.
Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. on Friday in Stoneburg.
Colt Rainey is expected to play either quarterback or spread back. Kasen Allen could also see time at both positions. Expect Ethan Hellman to have a more prominent role at wide receiver.
Josh Belt, who had been having a spectacular season for Gold-Burg (2-3), was knocked out of last Friday’s 56-6 loss to Covenant Classical with a concussion.
Gold-Burg head coach Jay Johnson said it’s unclear whether Belt will play this week, but it’s doubtful.
Even with a depleted roster, Johnson expects a competitive game versus Tioga. Read more from the area football roundup in the mid-week Bowie News.

Josh Belt (7) suffered a concussion in last Friday’s loss to Covenant Classical in Fort Worth. Belt, shown here during a Sept. 12 game against Saint Jo at Harley Sewell Field, is doubtful for this Friday’s game against Tioga. Click on the image for the complete photo. (News photo by Eric Viccaro)
