District games begin on Friday for Montague County’s six-man football teams.
Gold-Burg and Forestburg will clash in the District 12-1A-II opener at Longhorn Field. This will also be the Longhorns’ homecoming game.
Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
“We’ve worked all year for this point (of the season),” Forestburg head coach Wayne Tuckwell said. “We’re all 0-0 now. It’s a new season, and the boys are excited.”
The Longhorns (4-2) have every reason to be excited.
The team hasn’t played since Oct. 3, a 69-54 conquest over Saint Jo. The Longhorns’ game at Harrold on Oct. 10 was called due to severe weather and the team was off during the week of Oct. 17.
Forestburg will be playing a Gold-Burg team with seven healthy players, as reported by head coach Jay Johnson.
“It’s a rivalry,” Johnson said of the forthcoming game. Read more in the mid-week Bowie News.
