Saint Jo readies Santa on the Square Dec. 6
This year’s Saint Jo Chamber of Commerce “Santa on the Square” Christmas parade will be on Saturday, Dec. 6.
This year’s theme is “Have a Chisholm Trail.”
Since the Chisholm Trail is an integral part of Saint Jo’s history it makes a perfect western theme.
Chamber directors are asking all local merchants to participate by decorating your establishment according to the late 1800s when the cattle drives came through this area. The chamber plans to have a chuck wagon on the downtown plaza with Ole Saint Nick dressed up in his cowboy duds!
Entries for the parade will need to be submitted by Dec. 1. All entries must be lighted.
Entries will need to arrive no later than 5 p.m. on Dec. 6 in the vacant lot north of Leeton Phillip’s house. Please call Larry Smith at (940) 995-2668 or e-mail [email protected]. Parade rules and regulations will be received when you turn in your entry.
Cash prizes will go to a grand champion with $150; best mechanical entry, $100 and best horse-drawn entry, $100.
In addition to the parade, the Saint Jo Elementary School Choir will perform numbers from the upcoming Christmas musical.
Gift bags and for the children will be handed out by Saint Nick and photographs will be taken. The Century Club also will provide hot chocolate and snacks during the event, and there will be prize drawings. The chamber will give away more than $2,000 in prizes. Purchase from tickets at local merchants.
The chamber invites everyone in the Montague County and surrounding communities to attend.
