YEAR IN REVIEW: Prairie Valley’s Bristow places fourth in pole vault at state

One of the most prideful things a Texas high school athlete can accomplish is a top finish in the UIL state meet at the University of Texas in Austin.
Prairie Valley’s Anne Bristow popped a pole vault mark of 8-feet, 6-inches, which was good enough for fourth place in the Conference 1A, Division II meet.
Other area athletes competed well on the grand stage, too, including Saint Jo pole vaulter Garrett Parker and fellow schoolmate Claire Weger and Forestburg thrower Cheyenne Banks. All of them recorded top-10 finishes.
It’s not an easy feat in a state as wide and competitive as Texas. Bristow’s finish was No. 9 on the top stories of the year list in 2014.
