Forestburg’s girls pitched a first-quarter shutout en route to a 30-point district victory, 54-24, on Tuesday.
The Lady Horns scored the game’s first 19 points, and Saint Jo didn’t get on the board until Karla Fernandez made a pair of free throws with 5:45 to go in the second quarter.
Forestburg was up 21 points at half, and slowly built on that margin in the third and fourth quarters.
“I thought we played hard and battled all game against their pressure,” Saint Jo head coach Glenn Boerger said, “and I was proud of their effort for the game.”
Fernandez finished with a double-double, with 17 points and 11 rebounds.
Alexia Britain paced all scorers and rebounders with a double-double of her own, tallying 23 points and culling 12 boards. Read more in the weekend Bowie News.
