AREA SPORTS: Nighthawks’ tryouts Feb. 7

The Wichita Falls Nighthawks’ Indoor Football League team will begin season practices this Sunday, Feb. 1, at the Kay Yeager Coliseum in Wichita Falls.
The team also will be conducting another tryout at 10:15 a.m. on Feb. 7 at Yeager Coliseum.
Registration will take place from 9-10 a.m.
The fee for the tryout is $50, except $60 on the day of the tryout.
During the tryout, athletes will perform a 40-yard dash, short shuttle, L-drill, individual position specific drills and more.
No cleats are allowed and athletes must sign a waiver for the tryout.
The Nighthawks can carry as many as 40 players in training camp. During the regular season, the team will be limited to 21 spots on the active roster and four more players on the practice squad.

Richey headed to National Finals

Bowie’s Cason Richey (right) and his horse Hello Lashes, qualified for the College National Finals Rodeo this month. Richey competes in team roping as a part of the Texas Tech University rodeo team as a freshman. The CNFR is scheduled for June 15-21 at Casper, WY.
