BOWIE YOUTH SPORTS: Little Dribblers starts

Bowie’s Little Dribblers program began Saturday, Jan. 16, at various locations throughout the community.
Little Dribblers coordinator Julie Ogle said there will be 42 teams in seven different divisions this season.
Games will begin at 8 a.m. and run through 7 p.m.
The program will run from today though Feb. 14.
There will also be a Bowie Basketball Bash from Feb. 19-21 featuring 65 teams from around the area.
The divisions are as follows: Five- and six-year-old co-ed, seven- and eight-year-old boys and girls, nine- and 10-year-old boys and girls and 11- and 12-year-old boys and girls.
Games will take place in the Bowie Intermediate School gymnasium (five- to eight-year olds), new Bowie Junior High School gym (nine- and 10-year-olds) and old BJH gym (11- and 12-year-olds).
Look in The Bowie News for standings and league results. Teams are named after sponsoring businesses and professionals.

Gold-Burg High School hosted its awards banquet on May 22. The Gold-Burg Iron Bear Awards went to Eli Freeland-White for boy athlete and Hallie Nelson for girl athlete.

Richey headed to National Finals

Bowie’s Cason Richey (right) and his horse Hello Lashes, qualified for the College National Finals Rodeo this month. Richey competes in team roping as a part of the Texas Tech University rodeo team as a freshman. The CNFR is scheduled for June 15-21 at Casper, WY.
