New members were appointed to the Montague County Historical Commission by the commissioner’s court Monday, but action on naming a new chairman has been delayed for two weeks as the group considers possible by-laws changes.

Naming of new members is a bi-annual task of the court, as is the naming of a chairman.

However, County Judge Rick Lewis told the meeting Monday the state code does not require the court to name the chairman, so the commission could make its own recommendation for chairman and submit it to the court for approval. Read the full story in the mid-week News.
