HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Gold-Burg boys fall at Bryson Tournament

The Gold-Burg High School boys’ basketball team dropped a pair of games on Tuesday at the Bryson Tournament.
The Bears suffered losses to Wichita Falls Heat homeschooled team, 50-29, and then Wichita Christian 51-34.
Gold-Burg was originally scheduled to play Bryson to close the tournament on Wednesday, but didn’t make the trip because of bad weather there.
Gold-Burg stood at 1-12 heading into Saturday’s District 1A-21 game at Slidell.

Individual Scorers: Rayge Gardner 4, Josh Belt, 11; Anthony Rios, 14
Additional Statistics: Josh Belt contributed 10 rebounds and two steals. Rayge Gardner chipped in with three rebounds and one blocked shot. Gold-Burg corralled 12 offensive rebounds in the loss.

Richey headed to National Finals

Bowie’s Cason Richey (right) and his horse Hello Lashes, qualified for the College National Finals Rodeo this month. Richey competes in team roping as a part of the Texas Tech University rodeo team as a freshman. The CNFR is scheduled for June 15-21 at Casper, WY.
