OUTDOORS: Mother Neff set to reopen on Jan. 23

Mother Neff State Park in Moody will celebrate its grand reopening on Jan. 23 at 10 a.m., and activities will also take place on Jan. 24.
The park received a $6.5 million renovation, which included a new limestone headquarters, maintenance facilities and 20-site camping loop.
The new facilities complement the original Civilian Conservation Corps structures, enhance the camping experience and provide visitors with a better understanding of the park’s history and features.
Park entry fees are waived for both days.
There will be a welcome ceremony and formal dedication with state dignitaries and Texas Parks and Wildlife Department leaders.
On Jan. 24, the park will have a family fun day from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Visitors will learn about how the facility was constructed including rainwater collection. Read more, and see additional outdoors information, in the weekend Bowie News.
