YOUTH SPORTS: Little Dribblers’ tourney heads to Nocona

The Little Dribblers Continental Division Nationals will be taking place from April 8-11 using six gymnasiums in both Nocona and Saint Jo.
The following gymnasiums will be in use: Nocona High School, Nocona Middle School, Nocona Elementary School, First Baptist Church and the main and auxiliary gymnasiums at Saint Jo.
The Continental Little Dribblers are Class 2A Division II and below, said Lance Meekins from Nocona Little Dribblers.
“There will be between 140 and 150 total games,” Meekins said, “and between 75 and 85 Little Dribbler teams.”
The event will feature the following divisions of play: Junior boys and girls (10-and-under), major boys and girls (12-and-under) and senior boys and girls (14-and-under).
Teams will check in at 9:15 a.m. on April 8, with a coaches’ meeting to follow at 10:30 a.m.
The opening ceremony will be at 7:15 p.m. that night.
Admission will be $10 for an adult and $7 for senior citizens and children. Tournament passes also will be available for $25, but those will only be sold on April 7 and April 8.

Prairie Valley Sports Awards

Prairie Valley hosted its high school awards banquet on May 9. The O.C. Mann Award went to Josh Stout and Linzie Priddy.

Gold-Burg High School hosted its awards banquet on May 22. The Gold-Burg Iron Bear Awards went to Eli Freeland-White for boy athlete and Hallie Nelson for girl athlete.

Richey headed to National Finals

Bowie’s Cason Richey (right) and his horse Hello Lashes, qualified for the College National Finals Rodeo this month. Richey competes in team roping as a part of the Texas Tech University rodeo team as a freshman. The CNFR is scheduled for June 15-21 at Casper, WY.
