Bowie High School’s Zeke Vaughan made his point at the University Interscholastic League state meet in Austin.
See, Vaughan placed sixth in the high jump with a leap of 6-feet, 2-inches, and that gave the Jackrabbits one point in the Conference 3A boys’ meet.
Vaughan missed on his first pair of attempts, but was successful on his third.
“Zeke didn’t finish where he wanted to, but it was still a very successful year, and I am proud of him,” Bowie assistant boys’ track and field coach Justin Prescott said.
“It was an amazing experience for Zeke to go to Austin and compete with the best of the best,” Prescott continued. “I fully expect him to be there again next year.”
Vaughan has turned into an accomplished track and field athlete, competing in both hurdles races and several jumping disciplines, including the triple jump and long jump.
Conference 1A girls
Cheyenne Banks, Forestburg, and Saint Jo’s Sarah Patrick both participated in the Conference 1A girls’ state meet, and each girl placed seventh. Read more in the mid-week Bowie News.
