Briefs filed in Vickie Jackson’s application for writ of habeas corpus

By BARBARA GREEN
The state and the defense have both filed their “findings of fact” with the 97th District Court in the application for writ of habeas corpus filed by Vickie Dawn Jackson, who is serving life for killing 10 hospital patients with a paralytic drug.
Following a July 9 hearing, retired District Judge Roger Towery requested each side submit the briefs outlining what they believe the evidence showed.
Jackson, a former Nocona General Hospital nurse, was represented by attorney Julia Bella, while District Attorney Paige Williams represented the state.
Williams said her brief was filed on Aug. 10, while Bella filed on Aug. 7.
The DA explained the judge will review them and then prepare his own paperwork, which usually takes about 30 days. It then goes to Austin to the Court of Criminal Appeals. Read the full story in the weekend News.
