RODEO: Eight win big at MCCC youth competition

Several youth won buckles as a result of their performance at the third annual Montague County Cowboy Church rodeo in Montague on Saturday.
Taylor Shipman was the winner of the girls’ 17-21 buckle, and Dawson Parker claimed the buckle for the 17-21 boys.
Riley Caballero earned the girls’ 13-16 buckle while Sawyer Przilas garnered the boys’ 13-16 division.
Laney Mitchell was tops among girls ages 9-12, and Clayton Hutson was the best for the boys’ 9-12.
In the 8-under division, Kate Neill won the girls’ side and Rendon Powledge the boys. Read complete results in the mid-week Bowie News.

Prairie Valley hosted its high school awards banquet on May 9. The O.C. Mann Award went to Josh Stout and Linzie Priddy.

Gold-Burg High School hosted its awards banquet on May 22. The Gold-Burg Iron Bear Awards went to Eli Freeland-White for boy athlete and Hallie Nelson for girl athlete.

Richey headed to National Finals

Bowie’s Cason Richey (right) and his horse Hello Lashes, qualified for the College National Finals Rodeo this month. Richey competes in team roping as a part of the Texas Tech University rodeo team as a freshman. The CNFR is scheduled for June 15-21 at Casper, WY.
